The History of Excellence
Suwanee Lumber Company is a family owned business going back three generations. Founded in 1961 by Berry H. Johnsa and wife Lillian Dean Johnsa, Suwanee Lumber Company began manufacturing oak flooring, stair treads, landing nose, and door sills. Gradually, the company’s focus shifted to providing cabinet makers and the general public with hardwood and pine lumber, plywood, shelving, and molding.
In Memory of Richard H. Johnsa
Born April 14, 1937, Richard H. Johnsa was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and a member of the U.S. Airforce. After his discharge, Richard married Amy Elizabeth Jenkins and they had two sons, Berry and Bill. In 1965, Richard joined Berry as a member of the Suwanee Lumber team. Richard was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He passed away June 30, 2003.
